You don't have to burn a hole in your pocket to get a foot spa in an expensive salon, you can follow these easy and simple steps to do an at home relaxing foot spa. Check them out below!
How To Do A Relaxing Foot Spa At Home In Simple Steps
Find A Peaceful And Comfortable Spot
Before you start with your at home foot spa, find yourself a nice, peaceful and comfortable spot to sit and relax. Put on your favourite music and burn a soothing scented candle to create a relaxing ambience!
Remove Nail Polish First
Start your pampering session by removing any old nail polish from your toe nails with a nail polish remover. Even if they are bare, use a clean wet cloth to wipe away oil or dirt from them.
Cut And File Your Toe Nails
Always keep your toe nails short and well-groomed to avoid getting a fungal infection! Use a nail clipper and nail file to give them a proper shape. Generally, women prefer to have round shaped toe nails so that their edges don't get stuck to clothes and bed sheets.
Soak Your Feet In Luke Warm Water
This is the most relaxing step out of all of them. Fill a bucket or a tub (in which you can fit your feet comfortably) with warm water and add milk, epsom salt, peppermint essential oil and rose petals in it.
Don't worry if you don't have these ingredients in your home, just plain, Luke warm water and lemon would do the job of making your feet feel relaxed and reduce any pain. You have to soak your feet for about 15 minutes to get the best results.
During that period, You can read a book or surf Instagram. Check out our Instagram feed at @DebelleCosmetix!
Remove Dead Skin Cells From Your Feet And Toes
Get rid of dirt and dead skin cells from your feet and cuticles. For your heels and soles, you can use a pumice stone or a foot scrub which can easily be purchased from the market.
Don't forget to scrub between your toes. For cuticles, first apply a moisturizer on the toenails and the area around them. Then, gently push the cuticles using a cuticle pusher which is known as orange stick.
Never cut your cuticles as it can lead to nail infections, just push them back and gently scrub away the small white dead skin cells you see on your nails.
Apply A DIY De-Tan Pack
Our feet can get tanned and look dull due to sun exposure and dirt. Normally, most of us forget to apply sun protection on our feet, although we know that our feet are also susceptible to sunburn and sun tan as much as our other body parts.
So we must make sure to at least use a de-tan pack on the feet bimonthly to keep them tan free. Those who wear closed shoes for long periods may also get tanned feet as shoes tend to trap sweat and bacteria on the feet.
These are the ingredients you would require for your quick DIY de-tan pack for your feet -
- 2 tbsp Curd
- 2 tbsp Gram Flour
- Rose Water
- 1 tsp Turmeric
You can increase or decrease the quantity of the ingredients as per your needs, don't put in too much of turmeric as it can leave a yellow tint. Mix the ingredients well, apply and keep the pack for up to 20-25 minutes.
Wash Off Pack AND you Pat Your Feet Dry
Wash off the de-tan pack while using scrubbing motions. Use a towel to pat your feet dry and get ready for the next step.

A bonus tip for shoe wearers - to prevent your shoes from making your feet stinky in the future, stuff socks inside them that contain used green tea bags. The green tea bags will remove bad odor from the shoes and make them smell fresh. For the sweat problem, you can put talcum powder inside your socks or shoes before wearing them.
Talcum powder can soak up the sweat easily and keep your shoes from getting damp.
